Our Major Social Interventions

Climate Change
This project is still in its nascent stage. SAL conducts Plantation drives with the help of local village organisations comprised mainly of women. They inculcate these community-based organizations to conduct drives in order to be responsible for themselves and ultimately for the environment.
Women Empowerment
It’s 2020, and women are still trying to have their voice heard. Women are not on equal status rights both morally and financially. Because of this they suffer exploitation. SAL works with these women in society and poor communities to uplift themselves and make a difference

Welfare Programs for Children
Most of the children attending government schools come from the poor strata of society. Their parents go for coolie (manual hard labour) work and return very late. The parents are often illiterate and cannot help their children with their school work. On some days, they are so tired, they don’t bother with the children.
Comprehensive Care for Neglected Elderly
The growing number of elderly destitute on the streets is a reflection of the pathetic situation of the elderly today. The days they need to spend peacefully and joyfully often become the days of sadness and regret.

Crisis Intervention Center for Women
In India, especially in villages, women are never considered on par with men and are often mistreated, exploited or abused. Rape victims, unwed mothers, and abused women find refuge in two homes set up by SAL. One is the Meyer’s Home in Mangalagiri (Andhra Pradesh) and the other is at Sneha Bhavan located in Chakan, Pune (Maharashtra).
Educational Support
SAL operates this project in different mandals of the Krishna district namely Avanigadda, Ajit Singh Nagar, Jaggayyapeta, Agiripalli (Rajavaram), Nunna, Tiruvuru, Kondapalli and Edara (S.A.Peta). During their field visits, the Sisters try to help orphans who are in need of help-especially educational help.

Skill for Life
The aim for the Skills for Life initiative is to empower these women with skills that will not only help them achieve financial independence but contribute back financially to their society and economy.
Rehabilitation of Rag-pickers
Rag-pickers are literally people who pick up rags and sell them as a source of livelihood. They are not recognised as labourers nor do they come under any organized sector. Shifting through the garbage, muck and waste, they expose themselves to a host of fatal diseases.

People Led Initiatives
Every year the Central and State Government introduces schemes to sustain villages with financial initiatives, industrial development, and environmental protection. But many villagers are unaware of these schemes.
Welfare Programme for Unskilled
We work as liaison between the government and the unorganised labourers. We offer educational help for their children and facilitate them to access all government schemes

Family Care Services
A family that nourishes the morale of its members creating harmonious lives brings forth citizens who contribute positively to society. Falling back on the origins of the Society of St. Ann, SAL has adopted 150 families in the neighbouring villages of Avanigadda, Nunna and S.A.Peta.
Livelihood Project
This initiative takes place in the districts of Krishna, Andhra Pradesh. Many of the women in these districts are seasonal labourers – which means that they are only employed during certain months of the year. For the rest of the months, they sit at home with no means of earning an income.

Women Micro Entrepreneurs
To promote women entrepreneurship, SAL have started this initiative. In liaison with different government blocs like NABARD/ Khadi/ NIMSME/Janasikshana Samsthan/ Krushi Vignan Kendra, training in various courses are given to women to start their own micro enterprises.
St. Ann’s Pre-School
The St. Ann’s pre-school is located in Jahanuma, in the old city of Hyderabad – Telangana. The dominant ethnic population in this vicinity are Muslims. Over here, SAL has established a tailoring training centre for mothers as tailoring is considered an important skill for Muslims.

Tribal Welfare Initiative
Today along with the environment they face threat to their dignity and identity. In our efforts to uplift them we have started to educate their children and give all possible support for their emancipation
