Educational Help for Orphans, Semi-Orphans & Children with Special Needs
“Walk in the presence of God and so live always in union with God” – Fr. Wilhelm Meyer (Founder – SAL)
SAL operates this project in different mandals of the Krishna district namely Avanigadda, Ajit Singh Nagar, Jaggayyapeta, Agiripalli (Rajavaram), Nunna, Tiruvuru, Kondapalli and Edara (S.A.Peta). During their field visits, the Sisters try to help orphans who are in need of help-especially educational help. If they do not reach out to help these orphans, they end up becoming child labourers to sustain their living. SAL educates these deprived souls in order for them to have a bright future. They provide them with tuition fees, school fees, hostel fees, college fees, books, uniform and all related study materials depending on the needs of the child.
SAL also helps semi-orphans (children with a single parent), and children of debt-ridden parents by providing them with educational relief (partial funding). During the Sisters’ monthly meetings in their respective centres, they encourage all the children to take advantage of their school holidays and work part time so that they can earn income to support themselves.
SAL also provides educational relief and profession training to a few differently abled students so that they can earn income to support themselves.
As for higher education, the Sisters give preference to the girl child. Many a times, the parents either single or debt-ridden can afford education but only to a certain level. They feel that investment in higher education for the girl child is of no use. In these instances, SAL makes sure that worthy students get a chance for higher education by providing educational relief.
